Unlimited Opportunities

Introduction
Rotomoulding is identified as the fastest growing sector and the activities of developments are maximum in Asia and particularly in India with the exposure to the advance technologies, it would soon be recognized as a major plastic process. Rotomoulding is a method for manufacturing hollow plastic products. It is best known for the manufacture of tanks, but designers and end users all over the world have started to realize that it can be used to make different types of plastic parts. Currently, the rotomoulding industry is in an exciting stage in its development. Over the past decade, a number of significant technical advances have been made and new types of machines, moulds and materials are becoming available.

Global Industry Overview
In Europe, particularly in Germany, the per capita consumption of plastics is over 0.45 kgs, in United States it is around 0.82 kgs and the consumption in the rest of the world is just below 0.05kgs. This leaves us with an idea of the growth potential in these markets. The consumption per capita will grow much faster in these regions than in the developed countries where there is a certain degree of saturation. The North American and European markets are very different from the Asian market. The American and European markets have penetrated into different sectors as they have explored the abilities of the process and are constantly advancing in technical developments in machines/mould and materials. Generally, parts from Canada and Mexico are imported into US for cost reduction.

North America
The North American market is mainly dominated by the toy companies and agriculture tank producers. They have a strong technical base in developing products to suit the process. It is a technically mature market which has fragmented into various applications.

Europe
Europe traditionally never had the special focus on sectors like toys. The demand is concentrated within relatively small geographical areas. This could be one of the reasons for the success of other process such as injection and blow moulding. Compared to other regions, rotomoulding in Europe is much more fragmented. Although the number per sector is lower, the fragmentation offers great potential. The European market would compete with the other processes as they have developed an expertise in machine and mould design to stretch the capabilities of the process to service newer areas. Their major rotomoulding markets are industrial application, automotive, food and agriculture.

South Africa
The South African market is mainly for water tank applications. Understanding the capabilities of the process, the South African market has started to fragment into major local sectors like mining, material handling and construction. The equipment sourcing is mainly from Asia, India and the tank market continues to grow.
