Applications of
Rotomoulding

Rotational moulding is a very different process compared to injection, blow or extrusion moulding process where size and shape can be made as per the needs of the customers; from a simple water storage tank to parts for aircrafts.

Introduction
Plastics in today’s modern world are a prime mover of our nation’s growth. Development in plastics is playing a critical role and the growth rate has been spiraling upwards. Plastics have virtually entered into every segment be it industrial use, scientific instruments, day-to-day necessities of individuals etc. Rotational moulding is a very different process compared to injection, blow or extrusion moulding process where size and shape can be made as per the needs of the customers; from a simple water storage tank to parts for aircrafts. In India, water storage tank has been a predominant product of the rotomoulding process. Processors have ventured into different applications in industries such as automobile, chemical, pharmaceutical, material handling for warehousing, recreation, toys, infrastructure, building construction, health, science and designing in the advertisement industry. Rotomoulding is the most versatile plastic process catering to the needs of the above mentioned and various other industries.

Applications
Infrastructure and Construction
Various products can be manufactured in the construction industry such as water storage tanks from 100 litres to 30,000 litres, tanks for rain water harvesting, tanks for septic, sewerage and waste disposal, garbage bins for housing societies etc. The advantage of plastic tanks is its hygiene, cost effectiveness, light weight and fast installation of any size.
Infrastructure and Road Building
Rotational moulded products have varied applications such as road barriers, site cabins, road signs etc. as these products are quite tough as compared to the ones made from other processes.

Automobile
Manufacturers in the automobile industry in India have come forward showing their interest in rotational moulded parts and using rotomoulded products suiting critical needs such as fuel tanks, canopies for tractors, intricate design water tanks and fuel tanks for road rollers, head rest, bumpers and vehicle frontal protection system to protect cars from minor accidents.
