Raj Kumar Lohia, Chairman,
Lohia Starlinger Ltd. shares
the plastic machinery major’s
profile and power, in dialogue with ET
Polymers.
Q. What are your key thrust areas?
We continue to focus on manufacturing
machinery for woven plastics. As
far as plastic is concerned, we are not
yet into it. We shall plan about it in the
due course of time.
Lohia is the largest manufacturer of
plastic machinery in India. Nearly 50%
of our production is meant for exports
and the rest for domestic use. Our clients
are spread all across the world.
However our main clients are based
mostly in developed and underdeveloped
nations where the product lines are
intensive.
We registered a turnover of nearly
Rs. 300 crores and are now looking
ahead at doubling our volumes from the
present level.
We are concentrating on worldwide
developing markets. The Asian market
is really developing fast.
Q. How do you view new entrants entering
the plastic machinery manufacturing
business?
Competition is a part of life. It
depends on how you sustain it. In the
long run, quality is a major factor
that lends you an edge.
THE ECONOMIC TIMES POLYMERS l JUNE - JULY 2006 21

newcomers but given the
challenge thrown by the bigger
manufacturing players in the industry,
it is not really an easy task for
the entrants in the plastics manufacturing
industry.
