Pluss Polymers launches ' Papyrus' - Compound
for Blown Film based Synthetic Paper
Pluss
Polymers a Manas group company has announced the launch
of its compound for producing blown and cast film based synthetic
paper. Termed as Papyrus, this compound is being launched in India
for the first time, as per the company. Wellworth Packers India Pvt.
Ltd. have already introduced bags using the Papyrus compound, for
XPS couriers (see picture), making it easy for the courier company
to address the envelopes with pen. In addition , the synthetic paper
prints very well, giving the dual advantage of plastics as well as
paper like looks and feel. The compound can be co-extruded as skin
layer in a two, three or five layer film construction for synthetic
paper with density 0.95 to 1.05. The film thus made has paper like
appearance and feel. It is writable with pencil, ballpen and markers
with solvent based inks. Excellent print quality is achievable using
a variety of printing techniques like silk screen, offset, gravure,
and flexography. The film has dead fold characteristics like paper.
It is not affected by water or moisture. Synthetic paper made using
the compound is high in both tensile and tear strength, good in opticals
and aesthetic appeal, making it useful in applications like printing
of calendars, brochures, machine manuals, labels etc. where good strength,
durability and aesthetics are desirable. The compound is available
and can be used in 2 or 3 layer blown film extrusion plants.
