Marchesini Group Presence in India is Getting Stronger
In view of the increasing interest on India strategic market
shown by Italian industry in recent years, a seminar about
“Technological Advancements on Sterile Packaging
Machinery” was held in Mumbai, on Thursday the 8th of
February 2007. The event was organized by the Marchesini
Group S.P.A., the Italian world leader in the design and
manufacturing of packaging equipment, which is looking
forward to increase its presence in the fast growing Pharma
industry of India.
The Company was established in 1974 and it is today a
group of about 1,200 employees and a total turn-over of
150 million Euro in 2006. The production is entirely
designed and carried out among the 14 manufacturing
division based in Italy. The sales and after-sales activities
of the group are performed by a network of 9 branch offices
and agencies spread all around the world.
Being 85% of production dedicated to the Pharma sector,
the list of Marchesini customers is really long and includes
multinational companies like GSK, Novartis, Aventis, Pfizer
and many other big and mediumsize
global players in that
industry.
Although Marchesini Group
presence is traditionally based in
Europe and North America, in the
recent years a very strong sales effort has been performed
by the company in order to promote its production towards
other strategic areas such as the Latin America, Far East,
India and China. Particularly concerning the Indian
market, Marchesini is fully aware of the big importance to
be present with a well established organization and the
spirit of this seminar goes into the same direction. As stated
in the title, the programme of the seminar focused
particularly on the latest equipment for the aseptic
applications developed by the group and in particular:
* Filling machines for ampoules, vials and cartridges
* Equipment for disposable pre-filled syringes
* Complete packaging lines.
PolyOne sets up Local
Operations in India
Following several years of successful
growth, and in response to requests
from customers, PolyOne has recently
announced plans to set up local
operations in India.
Highlighting its commitment to
strengthening its position in the Indian
market, PolyOne Singapore Pte Ltd has
recently opened a liaison office in
Mumbai, India. This new local office
reinforces PolyOne’s commitment to
expanding business globally.
Customers in India will now be able to
order PolyOne’s full range of engineered
materials, thermoplastic elastomer
compounds, LSFOH materials and colour
and additive masterbatch products.
Mr. Tushar Parida will be the lead
representative at this office. In addition, to
holding a Masters Degree in Polymer
Engineering from the University of Delhi,
Mr. Parida has many years experience in
the Indian polymer industry. He has a broad
background and has previously worked in
technical, application development and
business development roles.
Commenting on the announcement,
Ludovic Tonnerre, Business
Development Director Asia said: ‘This
new local office enables us to better serve
PolyOne’s existing customers in India,
and also to develop new business
opportunities in this marketplace.’
In addition to the opening of a local
liaison office in Mumbai, PolyOne is also
currently evaluating plans to further
expand their presence in India. ‘With an
overall growth in plastics of 8-10% in
India, customer demand in some regions
is such that in the next 12 months we
may need to continue to invest in India’,
says Ludovic Tonnerre.

International Student
Design Competition
Open to Design and
Engineering Students
The Association of Rotational Molders
(ARM) International has announced
its annual forum for students from around
the world to design and enter into
competition their prototype products that
could be produced using the rotational
molding process.
This competition is open to
undergraduate students from any
recognized college or university
worldwide who are pursuing degrees in
industrial design or engineering related
fields. Design and engineering professors
are encouraged to include instructional
materials on the plastics rotational
molding process in their curricula, and
to work with their students in preparing
their entries to the competition.
All students who enter the
competition will have an opportunity to
win cash prizes, receive complementary
attendance to ARM International’s 2007
Annual Fall Meeting & Technical
Exhibits at the Detroit Marriott
Renaissance Center, and earn prominent
recognition within the rotational
moulding industry.
Students should submit detailed
drawings of their designs and full design,
manufacturing and technical descriptions.
To qualify, entries must be received by
May 31, 2007.
A panel of industry experts, chosen
by ARM International, will judge all
entries. Entries will be evaluated on the
basis of design, manufacturing and
technical merits. Winners will be
announced by August 24, 2007.
