LCD’s (Liquid Crystal Displays) have been a booming
industry for past several years and this trend
is likely to continue.
LCD displays are used in cell phones, PDA (Personal
Digital Assistants), flat TVs, computer monitors
(lap tops and desktops), display for advertising, transparent
windows of electronic appliances etc.
LCD displays are made of many components which
are produced by specialized companies. Such components
include lamps, reflector film, light guide panels/
diffusion sheets, polarizer films, colour filters, glass
substrate etc.
Since LCDs are passive elements, they can not radiate
light by themselves. Therefore, a back light is
needed on the backside. The light from the lamp is
reflected by the reflector film / sheet. Above this reflector
film is the light guide panel / diffuser sheet. In
small instruments, the Light Guide Panel is used and it
is usually made from Acrylic (PMMA). In larger sizes,
a diffusion sheet is preferred by many companies and
it is usually made of PC / PMMA.
The light from Light Guide Panel / Diffusion Sheet
then passes through polarizer films, prism sheets, colour
filter and protector sheet to reach the viewer.
These sheets / films are available in various forms
like cut / uncut, printed / without printing (as in case of
Light Guide Panels). These are also available in various
grades, thicknesses and sizes depending on properties
like light transmission, haze etc.

Rollon TB slideway is an engineered thermoplastic
compound developed for use in linear bearing
elements to avoid metal-to-metal sliding contacts.
It is a self-lubricating, wear resistant material
manufactured under technical know-how from
BUSAK + SHAMBAN, USA.
Rollon TB slideway provides low friction stick
slip free operation, better positioning accuracy, repeatability,
vibration damping, and long life with
minimum wear. It is dimensionally stable, maintenance
free and can be operated with or without lubrication
for short duration; the allowable bearing
pressure is 115kgs/cm2 and is suitable for high
speed applications (conditions apply).
Rollon TB is used extensively on the guideways of
new and reconditioning of guideways in SPMs CNC’s
and conventional machine tools. It is available in thickness
ranging from 0.8mm to 4.0mm with standard width
12” and length as per customer requirements.
