Why Visit Proplast
Global competitiveness in terms of effective productivity
and intellectual abilities has transformed India
into a strong manufacturing base and an international
R&D hub. India has also emerged as a leader in Global
Cost & Quality (Low Cost, High Quality) according to a
recent McKinsey study. The Mckinsey survey of key executives
has also reaffirmed India's importance as a source
of technical and other talent.
Indian processors follow global practices in production,
quality and design. Helped by advanced intellectual
capabilities, Indian processors are constantly developing
new products and applications to suit market needs. The
processing industry is improving on a continual basis in
terms of:
* Sophisticated and world class higher capacity machines
*.Enhanced design capabilities, moulds, tools and dies
and technological know-how
* Increasing use of intelligent manufacturing to improve
productivity and asset utilisation
* Foreign direct investment in the downstream sector
Thus, the processing industry is growing at a phenomenal
rate and with its true potential harnessed, is all set to
reach the 12.5 MMT consumption mark, making India
the 3rd largest consumer of plastics by 2010 (next only to
the US and China).
Indian processed products, which span the packaging,
consumer goods and automotive sectors, are in huge
demand. Products from packaging materials like Polyester
or PET film, plastic bags, sack, crates, bottles and containers
to consumer goods like household wares, stationery,
writing instruments, furniture, ropes and twines, fishnets,
vinyl floor coverings, linoleum, storage tanks, pipes,

electrical accessories, surgical and medical products and
toys are some of the areas where India has demonstrated
core competency. Indian plastics finished products are
exported to over 140 countries including quality conscious
ones like USA, and countries in Europe and the Middle
East.
The 4th largest economy in the world, India has witnessed
stupendous economic growth over the past two
decades. Strong macroeconomic reforms, demographic
horsepower and leadership in commodities have catapulted
India into the position of being the world's 2nd
largest growing economy. A secular democratic constitution,
liberal and transparent investment policies, including
its FDI policy give the country an added advantage.
The Goldman Sach's report 'Dreaming with BRICs:
The Path to 2050' states that India has the potential to
show the fastest growth over the next 30 to 50 years. The
report projects that by 2050, only India will be recording
growth rates significantly above 3% and will have the
potential to raise its US dollar income per capita 35 times
current levels.
In the various indices developed by A.T.Kearney earlier,
India captured top position in the Offshore Index with
comfortable margins due to its strong mix of low costs
and significant depth in human resources. It also emerged
the 2nd most attractive country in terms of the Global
Retail Development Index. In the same study, India improved
its position from 6th to 3rd in the FDI Confidence
Index and also emerged the best BPO destination. Not
only that, the A.T. Kearney Business Confidence Index
rates India as the 6th most attractive destination. Thus
India is all set to become the "world's back office".
